During surgery, surgeons must identify vital anatomical structures (nerves and lymph nodes) to prevent damage. Correct identification remains enormously challenging and surgeons require high-tech intra-operative imaging. Our team worked on developing a demonstrator of H3D-VISIOnAiR that enables visualizing the invisible by combining a commercial spectral + RGB camera, advanced image analytics and near eye display. Tests were performed with a simulated surgical task consisting of positioning beads in a nailbed with very low contrast. The results show proof of concept by real-time 2D high-resolution image acquisition, processing of hyperspectral images and displaying augmented reality overlay of processed hyperspectral images.
Drawing upon Fischbein's theory of figural concepts, the starting point of the paper is the use and value of the history of geometry in mathematics education - first point that we make historical reference are theorems of Eudemus of Rhodes and Thales of Miletus and the second one is elaboration of these theorems in work of Serbian mathematicians Mihailo Petrovic Alas. Fischbein's theory is mainly based on a hypothesis that geometry deals with mental entities, the so-called geometric figures, which simultaneously possess conceptual and figural properties. Fischbein called the geometric figures figural concepts because of their nature. We have analyzed the internal tensions of the concepts of angle and cube, which may appear in figural concepts because of their double nature, developmental aspects and didactical implications. The goal of the research was to examine the pre-service primary school teachers' geometric reasoning regarding the correlation between figural (pictoral) and conceptual properties of geometric objects (angle and cube) in order to obtain a framework for creating didactic situations that reduce the gap between figure and concept. The results of this study show that the figural (pictoral) structure of an angle (and cube) dominates in the geometric reasoning of the pre-service primary school teachers over its formal conceptual constraints. There were some differences in situations when an image is helpful in solving tasks involving the concepts of the net of the cube and the cube itself.
In the XX century, especially after WWII, a great number of ethnic Macedonians have migrated to Australia and the US, while recently, after the 1991 dissolution of Yugoslavia, the direction of the migration influx has changed its course mainly towards Europe. While the first diaspora community was motivated by economic reasons drawing rural and urban citizens alike in pursuit of better life, the second wave of migration was led by political circumstances pushing mostly young educated people who failed to envisage decent life in the homeland. Hence there is a reason to believe that the two communities have different views and feelings of their homeland that underpin their construction of it. To identify the types of ‘Macedonia’ constructed by these two communities of migrants, and trace similarities and differences, this study will analyze on-line discourses on Macedonia produced by the members of the two diasporas. In so doing, we will be particularly interested in the meanings, attitudes, feelings and images the two communities ascribe to the homeland through the on-line interaction on their FB pages.
Procjena botaničkog sastava pašnjaka na različitim područjima s posebnim osvrtom na udjele terpena, koji osim učinka na terpenski profil arome mesa preživača mogu imati i potencijalni imunomodulacijski učinak, od bitnog je interesa suvremenog ovčarstva u R. Hrvatskoj. U istraživanjima u okviru ovog rada, pokazano je da ljekovite svojte bogate terpenima poput gospine trave (Hypericum perforatum L.), stolisnika (Achillea millefolium L.) i matičnjaka (Melissa officinalis L.) zbog statistički značajno veće učestalosti, gustoće i pokrovnosti na pašnjacima Velike Crkvine, u odnosu na pašnjake u Kvarte, potencijalno utječu na bolji imunosni status ovaca. Stoga su u ovom radu dobiveni rezultati znanstvena preporuka za daljnju procjenu biljnog sastava pašnjaka u Velikoj Crkvini tijekom istraživanja HRZZ projekta IP-2016-06-3685 u cilju postizanja dodatnih saznanja o učinku terpena na zdravlje i aroma sastav janjećeg mesa i to sve u svrhu proizvodnje inovativnih funkcionalnih proizvoda od janjećeg mesa.
