The purpose and idea of the paper is to define a methodological framework for the comparative assessment of the carbon footprint of virtual remote work and the footprint of an autonomous electric vehicle for physical mobility to the workplace. The methodology is based on the remote work service, as a typical representative of information and communication solutions with potentially significant opportunities to reduce emissions in the area of physical mobility. On the other hand, autonomous electric vehicles cause less greenhouse gas emissions than diesel cars, even when powered by engines with lower carbon emissions, but we still don’t know if it is more environmentally friendly to use digital teleworking services instead of electric autonomous vehicles for trips to the workplace. In the proposed methodology, special attention will be focused on the analysis of emission variables for existing consumption technologies of autonomous vehicles. The originality and value of the work consists in the fact that the results of the work offer an original comparative procedure for determining the value of emission footprint of the physical mobility of an autonomous electric vehicle in relation to the footprint of the virtual mobility of telecommuting.

The focus of research presented in this paper is quantification of the relationship between the traffic safety and roadside advertising structures along a selected road in urban environment. In order to determine correlation, statistical analysis of traffic safety indicators was performed. Then identificcation of characteristics of advertising structures and analysis was done by using multi-criteria evaluation in order to determine their impact on driver distraction. Determination of driver distraction was performed by testing the drivers in real traffic conditions, using specialized measuring equipment. The indicators derived from the research were then analyzed using the methods of regression analysis, and safety.

The trend of continuous increase for mobility requirements results in a progressive increase in the use of vehicles of all modes of transport, which contributes to a significant increase in noise levels, especially in urban areas. The most significant noise in urban areas is traffic noise, where road traffic contributes the most. This paper reviews the treatment of road traffic noise in the European Union with a focus on Directive 2002/49 / EC. The paper presents the basics of the mechanisms of the institutional and management framework in the field of road traffic noise monitoring in EU countries. Also, the results of road traffic noise monitoring in EU countries, indicators of population exposure to road traffic noise, as well as indicators of the impact of road traffic noise on the health of the population, were presented.

Bus stops are specific elements of the road network with characteristic elements of traffic signalization and technical equipment. Legislative regulations and rules clearly define the basic criteria in the stages of planning, design and construction of bus stops. However, given the complexity of the traffic, the needs of road users, and the impact of the immediate surroundings of the road, bus stops are often treated in inadequate way in certain previously defined stages. Inadequate treatment leads to failures which are noticeable after their construction, and in the process of their exploitation. For many reasons, the failures in the design are mainly related to an increase in risk and threats to the security of direct traffic participants, and manifest themselves through conflict situations and traffic accidents. The paper describes the examples of inadequate approach to the treatment of bus stops from the aspect of traffic safety, and provides recommendations and proposals of measures for improvement.

In order to facilitate sustainable and rational management of the primary road network in the Sarajevo Canton, it was necessary to establish a system of continuous traffic counting, which involves the systematic collection of data on traffic loads, the structure of the traffic flow, speed traffic flow, as well as the unevenness of the traffic load in space and time on the road and street network. The project includes 38 counting sites that are located on the primary road network of the Sarajevo Canton, of which the first phase of the project, in 2013 saw the setting of counters on seven micro locations. These devices provide information on the number (by lanes), category, speed and time intervals of the following vehicles, and the unevenness of the traffic load in certain time periods. The data are transmitted from the counter by general packet radio service (GPRS) communication to the server, which are further processed and they are the foundation of traffic forecasting, planning and designing of transportation systems and roads.

The safety of road traffic is a scientific discipline that deals with studying the adverse effects of road traffic and the methods of their reduction. A dangerous place on the road can be defined as a place with high risk. Managing black spots (dangerous places) includes their definition and identification, analysis of traffic accidents and risk factors on black spots (dangerous places), proposing and implementing measures on specific black spots (dangerous places) and evaluation measures. This paper presents the issues, experiences and international practice of black spots management methodologies, and a special aspect of the applied methodologies and international experiences of implemented activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This paper also presents a framework model and methodology for managing dangerous places in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular aspect of the basic safety parameters on dangerous locations, as well as evaluating the justification for applying adequate measures on dangerous places.

This paper shows the benefits of advanced computer models of the human body in the reconstruction of traffic accidents involving pedestrians in terms of human movement trajectories and correlation of various injuries and damages to motor vehicles. This paper describes practical tests of the validity of software applications that are used in the analysis of motor vehicle – pedestrians collisions. Computer models and applications that are used to simulate the pedestrian / vehicle interaction cannot be represented as accurate if the process of validating the data of human subjects i.e. “crash dummies” has not been carried out. A comparison of actual traffic accidents in which there has been collision of motor vehicles and pedestrians has been made with the calculations that are normally used to determine the appropriate parameters with the elements that are obtained by means of software applications.

The adoption of the state law on road traffic safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) created a comprehensive platform and legal guideline for efficient functioning of the road traffic safety system. Apart from the State Ministry of Transport and Communications the main carriers of realization and effective implementation of this law are the entity institutions of which the most important are the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Directorate of Roads, etc. However, even despite the clearly defined legislation and institutional support for its implementation, the road traffic safety degree is not at a satisfactory level. The main reason is the lack of a comprehensive strategy of road traffic safety at the state level, primarily as a result of incomprehension of Road Traffic Safety as a general social problem by competent and responsible political entities. This paper provides an analysis of the Road Traffic Safety Strategy in B&H with the Action Plan defined in compliance with the new recommendations of the United Nations Assembly and best international practice and the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the developing countries, which manages the implementation of the UN Decade of fighting for traffic safety increase. It also presents a comparative analysis of the efficiency of Road traffic safety strategy from 2008 to 2013, with the most significant results, that was implemented by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, which is so far the only adopted and implemented strategy in the field of road traffic safety in B&H.

Cost analysis of road traffic accidents in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina showed that the costs of fatalities in traffic are substantial. The social and economic losses resulting from traffic accidents in the Federation were calculated using the gross output method or methods of human capital - a recognized methodology that is used in many countries. These are the estimated costs of administration; medical expenses, property damage and lost output/productivity of the killed or injured, and they include compensations for pain, grief and suffering. Given the current gross domestic product (GDP) in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB&H) (KM 14,161,972,692.00 in 2010), the total costs of road traffic accidents in the FB&H (823.80 million KM (421.00 million EUR)) represent an average of 5.8% to GDP in 2010.
