Practical Test of Software Applications Validity for the Analysis of Motor Vehicle - Pedestrian Collisions

This paper shows the benefits of advanced computer models of the human body in the reconstruction of traffic accidents involving pedestrians in terms of human movement trajectories and correlation of various injuries and damages to motor vehicles. This paper describes practical tests of the validity of software applications that are used in the analysis of motor vehicle – pedestrians collisions. Computer models and applications that are used to simulate the pedestrian / vehicle interaction cannot be represented as accurate if the process of validating the data of human subjects i.e. “crash dummies” has not been carried out. A comparison of actual traffic accidents in which there has been collision of motor vehicles and pedestrians has been made with the calculations that are normally used to determine the appropriate parameters with the elements that are obtained by means of software applications.
