Introduction: the effects of malignant tumors of oral cavity may be reflected through mental, physical, social and emotional well-being and quality of life of patients. Those suffering from malignancies show a large degree of psychological problems (fear, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, phobias) both at the time of diagnosis and during the treatment. Aim: to determine a level of depression in patients with oral cavity cancer and to link quality of life and level of depression of patients with oral cavity cancer. Patients and methods: The study was conducted at the Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery of the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo (CCUS) in the period from July to late October 2015, through a survey of patients with verified oral cavity cancer, questionnaire related to socio-demographic characteristics of the patients, the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire (UW-QOL), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Results: Majority of patients from our study, specifically 50 (56%) of them, did not suffer from depression, 8 (9%) respondents suffered from mild depression, 14 (16%) respondents had moderate depression, whereas 17 (19%) of them had severe depression. Conclusion: quality of life and level of depression of patients with oral cavity cancer are in negative and almost linear correlation. The worse the evaluation results of one’s physical or socio-emotional health, the higher degree of depression.

Vascular anomalies are heterogeneous group of congenital lesions of abnormal vascular devel‐ opment and may occur anywhere on the body. There is a primary distinction between a vascu‐ lar tumor, which grows by cellular hyperplasia, and a vascular malformation, which represents a localized defect in vascular morphogenesis. Due to the differences in biologic be‐ havior and radiographic features, malformations are further subdivided into low-flow and high-flow lesions [1]. The common characteristic feature of all vascular anomalies is extreme bleeding during surgical excision. Clinicians throughout the world use the classification by Mulliken and Glowacki (1982) to classify these lesions. This classification is based on the vascu‐ lar lesion's histology, biological behavior and clinical findings [2]. Some of the lesions cause es‐ thetic problems, while some of them are malignant; thus, the therapeutic approach is variable.

p53 is one of the most frequently mutated genes in human tumors including head and neck tumors like oral squamous cell carcinoma. It might be responsible for more than 50% of all relapses in patients with surgically treated oral carcinoma and clean margins. The aim of the present study was to explore p53 protein expression in peritumoral tissue and correlate it with relapse of the disease. The study included 25 patients (17 males and 8 females) with oral squamous cell carcinoma in the period August 2006 till August 2008. For immunohistochemical assay, a monoclonal antibody against p53 protein was applied (clone DO-7, DAKO Glostrup, Denmark). Peritumoral expression of p53 was as follows: 10 out of 25 cases (40%) were negative, 2 cases (8%) showed weak, 5 cases (20%) moderate and 8 cases (32%) strong p53 positivity. No significant correlation between peritumoral expression of p53 protein and patient's relapse was found. In contrast, we found a trend toward association between intratumoral p53 expression and patient's relapse (p = 0.07). There was also trend toward higher peritumoral p53 expression in females comparing with p53 expression in males (52.9% of males did not have p53 expression while 87.5% females had mild, moderate or high p53 expression, p = 0.088). Peritumoral expression of p53 protein is frequently seen in oral squamous cell carcinoma and merits further research.

Adenocarcinoma is a carcinoma originating from epithelium of glandular tissue. It has higher incidence in smokers and most often is a common type of lung cancer find in non-smokers women. Adenocarcinoma tumors are highly heterogeneous and there are several major subtypes: adenocarcinoma, papillary adenocarcinoma, bronchoalveolar carcinoma, solid adenocarcinoma with mucin production. Adenocarcinoma of the lung is prone to give metastases to the liver, spleen, brain and most to cervical limphonodes. We present a case of a 55-year-old woman with an unusually localized metastatic adenocarcinoma with its primary focus originating from the lungs. Formation reached size of 15 cm in diametre during three months along with destruction of frontal bone ad intracranial penetration. We couldn't find similary localised metastatic adenocarcinoma in world literature.

Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a very rare autosomal dominant and highly penetrant cancer syndrome characterized by early-onset primary tumours, including soft tissue and bone sarcoma, breast cancer, leukemia, brain tumours and adrenocortical carcinoma. Here we report the first evidence-based case of LFS in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the whole Balkan region. A ten year-old girl developed multiple primary tumours (rhabdomyosarcoma) during a period of eight years, as well as fibroadenoma of the breast. Sequential analysis revealed a germ line mutation of TP53 in exon 8, a common mutation in patients with LFS, in both the patient and her mother.

This systematic review considers the most recent attitudes and news regarding the influence of the stroma on tumor initiation and progression. It is now widely accepted that tumor stroma plays an active role in carcinogenesis. Many different signaling molecules, ligands and signaling pathways recently have been discovered. This review considers the complexity of interactions between malignant cells and its stroma (cross-talk). The recent advances and better understanding of the tumor-stroma interactions will have important impact on the new and combined therapeutic approaches and modalities.
