Populist Challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Inter-, Intra-, and Cross-Ethnic Dynamics
Abstract This paper examines the relationship between populism and post-conflict power-sharing frameworks. Focusing on Bosnia and Herzegovina, it explores how populism challenges existing power-sharing arrangements, while also considering how these may foster different forms of populism. By proposing that populism in BiH should be understood as a discursive strategy that politically constructs a division shaped by different ethnic dynamics toward the dominant socio-political landscape, the paper identifies three distinct but interconnected forms of populism: inter-ethnic, intra-ethnic, and cross-ethnic.
