Agroecological conditions, the biological characteristics of grapevine varieties, and the application of viticultural practices significantly influence the physico-chemical properties of grapes. This study assessed the impact of agroecological conditions at two cultivation sites, Sarajevo and Trebinje, on the physico-chemical properties of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon (Vitis vinifera L.) grape varieties. The results showed that location had a statistically significant effect on several physical parameters of grape bunches and berries. Significant differences were observed in bunch and berry mass (in ‚Chardonnay‘), bunch length (in both varieties), bunch width (in ‚Cabernet Sauvignon‘), berry length (in ‚Chardonnay‘), berry width (both varieties), as well as in the mass of 100 berries, pulp and skin mass of 100 berries, and the number of seeds per 100 berries. Furthermore, the cultivation site significantly influenced the sugar and total acid content in both varieties, as well as the phenolic content in ‚Chardonnay‘ berries, and the flavonoid content and total antioxidant activity in ‚Cabernet Sauvignon‘.

The aim of this study was agro-pomological evaluation of ‘Clery’ strawberry cultivated in three different growing systems (open field, under low and high tunnel). The experiment was conducted during three seasons (2013-2015) at a commercial orchard in Celic (North eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina). By cultivation system of ‘Clery’ strawberry under high tunnel were achieved better results related to the development of crowns, yield per plant, fruit size, the ratio of marketable fruits and content of soluble solids in the fruit. Obtained results indicate that it is possible to adopt cultivation system in the strawberry culture in order to improve the total and marketable yield as well as fruit quality.

This work aimed to study the effect of pruning on the uvometric characteristics of the Merlot and Vranac wine varieties in the Trebinje region. The research was carried out in 2018, each variety had two variants of pruning, and each variant had three repetitions. The load levels of buds in this study were 11 (Variant I) and 9 (Variant II) buds per vine. The most important uvometric parameters of the tested varieties were measured. As an experimental factor, the variety, had a statistically significant influence on most of the investigated indicators, while pruning did not. The research carried out in Trebinje shows that both tested varieties can be successfully grown in the mentioned locality because the climatic conditions are suitable for their cultivation.

During the three-year study of the influence of pruning on the phenological development and yield of the Alphonse Lavalle variety in the Mostar area, three pruning variants (28, 30 and 40 buds / vines) were applied in four replications. The phenological development of the variety took place within the limits of the average and in accordance with the temperature conditions. The total number of developed shoots and the number of bearing shoots was the highest in 2013 (total 21.72, birth rate 21.25), and the lowest in 2012 (total 18.67, birth rate 18.56). The highest yield of grapes per vine was recorded in 2013 (17.73 kg), and the lowest in 2011 (9.01 kg). The number of bunches per vine was the highest in 2013 (33.94), and the lowest in 2011 (26.71). Pruning variant III had the largest number of total (21.79) and native (21.64) shoots, and variant I the smallest (total 18.46, native 18.17). The highest yield of grapes per vine was recorded in variant II (14.47 kg), and the lowest in variant I (12.05 kg), while the number of bunches per vine was uniform in variants II (31.37) and III (31, 51).

In this work, the influence of different concentrations of indole-butyric acid on the development of roots, one-year-old and two-year-old hardwood cuttings (Sambucus nigra L.) was investigated. Both types of cuttings were treated with three different concentrations of indole-butyl acid in liquid form (500 ppm, 800 ppm, and 1000 ppm), including the control variant of one-year-old and two-year-old hardwood cuttings (without the application of hormones). The parameters examined at the end of the experiment were: the percentage of rooting of the cuttings depending on the hormone treatment, the length of the adventitious roots depending on the hormone treatment, and the fresh mass of the roots, also depending on the hormone treatment. The use of indole-butyl acid in a concentration of 800 ppm proved to be the best because it had the greatest effect on increasing the value of all tested parameters of the cuttings.

The study of the effect of various types of pruning on fruiting of Muscat Bleu grape variety in the conditions of Herzegovina lasted for three years. Three pruning variants (28, 32 and 40 buds/vine) were applied in four repetitions. The yield of grapes per vine and the number of clusters per vine was the highest in 2011 year (10.30 kg and 45.98). The yield of grapes per vine (7.59 kg) was the smallest in 2012, and the number of grapes per vine in 2013 (25.93). The total number of productive canes per vine was the highest in 2012 (26.62), and the lowest in 2013 year (total number of productive canes per vine 22.65, number of productive canes per vine 22.47). Pruning variant III had the highest levels of these parameters in all three experimental years, and variant I the lowest.

The aim of this work was to study the effect of pruning on the yield and quality of grapes of three table grape varieties Black Magic, Muscat Bleu and Alphonse Lavallee in Herzegovina. The research lasted three years (2011-2013), each variety had three varieties of pruning, and each variety had four repetitions. The load levels of the studs in this research were 28 (Variant I), 32 (Variant II) and 40 (Variant III) buds per vine. The most important indicators of fertility and quality of grapes of the tested varieties were measured. Research carried out at the site of Vrapčić in the Mostar vineyard shows that all three investigated varieties can be successfully grown at the mentioned site, although the meteorological conditions in the years of the research were less favorable than the multi-year average. For all analyzed parameters, the greatest influence on their values was the variety, as an experimental factor, followed by the year of the research, and the least variant of pruning. Based on all the obtained results, it can be concluded that the Alphonse Lavallee variety gives the best results in the area of Herzegovina.

The aim of this research was to examine the degree of freezing and the fertility of winter buds along the shoots of the Malvasia Istriana and Garganega vine varieties grown in the Žepče area. The vine is sensitive to low winter temperatures, and the degree of freezing of the winter buds and other organs depends on the biological characteristics of the variety and the ecological conditions of cultivation. The degree of freezing of winter buds was determined by the method of provocation of buds, while the fertility of shoots was determined by counting inflorescences per bud, shoot and reproductive shoot. Samples were taken at the beginning of March, 10 shoots with 10 buds for each variety. Fertility and the degree of freezing of winter buds along the length of the shoots were monitored. Based on the obtained results, the percentages of buds, fertility coefficients of buds and shoots, and the fertility of varieties, as well as the fertility of developed buds from the first to the tenth nodus on the shoot, were calculated. By analyzing the measured parameters, we can conclude that the tested varieties can be successfully grown in the ecological conditions of Žepče, and the values of all tested parameters were higher in the Malvasia Istriana variety compared to the Garganega variety.

This study aimed to provide a more in-depth analysis of the fruit quality of three table grape varieties: 'Moldova', 'Lasta', and 'Italia', cultivated in the Žepče area (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The findings from the comparative analysis indicated substantial variations in grape quality among the studied varieties. 'Moldova' grapes exhibited significantly higher total soluble solids and pH values than those of the other table grape varieties. 'Moldova' also had higher total phenolic and flavonoid contents in the grape skin relative to 'Italia' and 'Lasta'. On the other hand, 'Italia' variety showed the highest titratable acidity, followed by 'Lasta' and 'Moldova'. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were highly positively correlated with the antioxidant capacities of all analyzed grape samples, suggesting that phenolic compounds contribute significantly to the antioxidant properties of grapes. Study results also indicated that all heavy metal levels tested in grapes were below the threshold limits, which was expected considering that the experimental soil was not contaminated with the heavy metals being assessed. Overall, the results from the study have shown that all grape varieties studied hereby displayed a satisfactory level of quality based on key chemical parameters, and that the experimental area is quite favorable for their cultivation.
