This study compared the effectiveness of two knowledge management system designs in supporting individual decision makers in a predictive judgement task. The black-box versus white-box system design was varied to allow for automating versus informating support in cue weighting and combination stages of the judgement process. The main findings indicate that only the white-box system design was effective in improving decision makers’ performance through enhancing their knowledge and debiasing their judgement strategies. However, the study reveals room for further improvement and provides directions for future

A semiconductor memory device that operates as a normal memory device as long as existing memory is being addressed, but appears to external hardware and software to have a larger size (or standard size) memory array than is actually present in the semiconductor memory device is disclosed. To external hardware and software, the semiconductor memory device operates as if it has more addressable memory cells than in fact actually exist in the memory array. When addressing missing memory cells, the semiconductor memory device emulates or mimics their presence for the benefit of the external hardware or software. Preferably, the semiconductor memory device is a non-volatile electrically alterable semiconductor memory device. A method for emulating missing memory cells is also disclosed.

This paper explores user views of the current e-learning practices in an organisational setting. Eighty employees of Korean Air, who were enrolled in an e-learning course, participated in the study on a voluntary basis. Data on employees' perceptions of importance and satisfaction with their course portal were gathered by administering a survey questionnaire. The study revealed that employees considered all portal features as quite important and satisfying, although some more than others. They also agreed that there was scope for further improvement through adding extra functionality. These findings have important implications for improving the effectiveness of corporate e-learning.
