Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is one of the most widespread vegetable crops for multiple uses in the diet of the human population. Tomato products and tomatoes are an important source of vitamin C, copper and iron, and contain significant amounts of B vitamins, and minerals such as potassium, sodium, magnesium and calcium. However, tomato lycopene seems particularly precious, active substances from the carotenoid family that plays an important role in the defense of the health of human organism. In the fruits of tomatoes lycopene is  dominant carotenoid, and besides him there are also smaller facilities α-carotene, β-carotene, γ-carotene, phytoene, fitofluena, neurosporena and lutein. The content of lycopene in tomatoes is largely dependent on the different agro-ecological conditions, primarily temperature, solar radiation and humidity. It is clear that the variety, stage of maturity, different environmental conditions and production methods affect the chemical and physical characteristics of agricultural products. Bearing in mind the nutritional and halth importance of representation of tomatoes in the diet and the area in which this kind of vegetable products, the objective of this research is to examine the impact of different production systems (organic, integrated and conventional) on the synthesis and content of lycopene in tomatoes. All production systems include the established methodology that is used for the production of tomatoes in open field (block system). Within each type of production were included tomato hybrids Matias F1 and Sakura F1. The highest content of lycopene was recorded in the integrated production(6.05mg/100 g),and the lowestin conventional(5.88 mg/100g). The highest contentof lycopenehad ahybridSakuraF1from6.34to6.56 (mg/100g) depending on the mode of production

The presence of toxic heavy metals in food is regulated by legal acts and limited to the permissible contents because the consumption of contaminated food over a long period of time is dangerous for health. Tests for the presence of heavy metals in bulbs of onion variety Stuttgarter (standard) and new varieties Konjicki and Zenicki were conducted in 2012 and 2013 by performing experiments on the site of Butmir, Sarajevo. Even though none of the test samples contained heavy metals above the prescribed amount, as per detected presence of lead, arsenic and cadmium, there are indications of present differences related to the examined varieties of onions or even year of breeding. In 2013 detected content of lead increased by 0.0090 mg/kg, 0.0074 mg/kg of arsenic and 0.0033 mg /kg of cadmium, comparing to 2012. Among the examined varieties of onion, a variety Stuttgarter in 2012 had the highest contents of all studied toxic heavy metals, while such properties in 2013 had variety Zenicki. The results indicate that only the amount of the bulb yield that is significantly higher for the variety Konjicki (34%) in 2012, and 30% for the variety Konjicki and 27% for Zenicki in 2013, comparing to standard, is not enough to accept a new line of onion as fit for human consumption.

The paper presents results of two – year study of some pomological properties of cultivar of plum ''Čačanska rodna'' grafted on GF 655/2 and Fereley rootstocks. The research was carried out in the plum orchard for cultivar testing of Federal Bureau of Agriculture of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Obtained results showed that the average earlier time of maturation was on rootstock GF 655/2 (04.09.). Cultivar ''Čačanska rodna'' had the lowest fruit weight on rootstock Fereley in 2012 (27,48 g), while the highest fruit weight was on rootstock GF 655/2 in 2012 (30,53 g). There are significant differences between rootstocks and years which were included in the research. During of the research, the highest yield was on rootstock Fereley (2013), while the lowest yield was on same rootstock in 2012. The obtained results have confirmed that agro – environmental conditions of Sarajevo are favorable for growing the above mentioned cultivar of plum ''Čačanska rodna'' grafed on GF 655/2 and Fereley rootstocks.

Two old tomato cultivars (Sarajevski jabucar and Novosadski jabucar) have been studied for the production and bio-active potential. Investigation was performed in Burmir, Sarajevo, BH. The research included fruit weight and the yield of the fresh fruits per hectare. Lycopene was found in fresh fruits both in physiological and technological maturity. Fruit weight was significantly higher for Sarajevski jabucar than for Novosadski jabucar. Lycopene level in Sarajevski jabucar in physiological maturity was from 6.20 to 9.95, and in technological from 8.35 to 13.60 mg per 100 grams of fruit. Old varieties that have become domestic in the Balkan belong to genotypes rich in lycopene. The production potential was at the satisfactory level in some growing areas.

In this paper, the Federal Institute for Agriculture in Sarajevo introduces a new onion variety-Konjica’s onion, specially developed for production from onion sets to suit the environmental conditions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The paper evaluates the variety’s agronomic performances and its characteristics of quality in two locations over three-years period. The new variety is characterised by yellow-brown flattened bulbs with high dry matter (12.2 to 14.5%) and high glucose and sucrose content and mildly pungent flavour. Expansion of domestic varieties of very good quality such as Konjica’s onion should increase domestic onion production and reduce its import from abroad.
